SIGNAL Production has brought ten light installations to Pilsen – European Capital of Culture 2015.
On Friday, February 20thand on Saturday, February 21st it illuminated the Radbuza riverbank between two industrial areas: the hall of the former public transport depot and the area of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery. The installations were produced by prominent Czech artists such as David Černý, Vladimír 518, Rony Plesl and Jakub Nepraš but also by important international artists from Japan, Ireland, Germany, France and Latvia.
David Černý’s Speederman in Café Papírna, installation Shadows by a Japanese artist in the area of DEPO 2015, others under the Millennium Bridge – those are just few of many festival locations in Pilsen.
Vladimír 518, one of the most significant persona on the Czech cultural scene took part in the festival with his audio-visual project SPAM in the underpass in Tyršova Street. Another Czech artist Rony Plesl created an installation of 35 six-metre-long uranium glass tubes in the chapel of Koranda’s Choir and the New-Renaissance building of the Museum of West Bohemia was boosted by the videomapping by Strasbourg based artists. Pilsner visitors also appreciated hundreds of recycled PET bottles illuminated by miniature LED light bulbs in the area of riverbank close to the Štruncovy sady and especially one of the most playful installations – the cloud constructed of thousands of old light bulbs was located in the courtyard of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery.
